I started this quilt last night when I should have been folding laundry :). Before I began it, I thought it would be nice for a teenage girl. Now that I have these 12 blocks made I am not so sure. The green print has Chinese good luck sayings on them-that's why I thought an older girl would appreciate it-maybe it is the primary colors that are bothering me...
So, I need a few opinions before I either continue or change. Do you like it how it is? Should I change the colors of the smaller blocks? Would a teenage girl like this concept?
I think its perfect. It has a very "modern" feel to it.
ReplyDeleteI think its cute, but I have the same thoughts. The bright green is cool, but the other primary colors make this more suitable for a nursery. Maybe bright pinks and browns with the green or blues/aqua/turq??? Its a very cool layout!
ReplyDeleteGreat pattern! I agree with Jessie that switching the colors in the small blocks would change it to a more grown up look. It looks like a great way to use up some scraps without looking too scrappy.
ReplyDeleteI can see where you might think young child. . .but I've seen some of the color combinations that my 23 yo step daughter puts together & I think she would like it.
ReplyDeletei like it just the way it is. I'm sure someone else will too. :)
ReplyDeleteDON'T CHANGE IT! I love the look. My personal 2 cents!
ReplyDeleteI think the primary colours need to be changed out...
ReplyDeleteIt has a nice modern feel to it. I say it's fine the way it is. :o)
ReplyDeleteIt's bold and modern. I think it looks great. Are you putting on a border? Framing it in black could make it look more artsy.
ReplyDeleteI like it just the way it is!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a black border!
ReplyDeleteI also like the ideas of blues, browns, and pinks with the green.
But it looks good like it is too. What ever you decide will be great!
I think the primary colors look good against such a bright green. I am also on the fence about whether a teenage girl would like it though. Maybe it will have to be just the right girl!
ReplyDeletemaybe try with more pinks, teals, and purples?? they should all go with the bright green.
ReplyDeletewhen i saw it I thought it'd be perfect for a young boy...
I like your pattern and style though and I like the colors :)
Love from Texas! ~bonnie
Well I checked with my tweenie girl and she adored it. She read your post and said it depends on the girl. Her friends (which she was quick to point out are nearly teens) would love it. The green is so them. And the bright colours make it fun. It got the "cool" response.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps!
I love it just the way it is, and I'm sure lots of girls of all ages will too.
