Bermuda Blues-Blogger's Quilt Festival

Amy's Creative Side

This is Bermuda Blues.  This quilt has been percolating in my mind since I moved to Bermuda six months ago.  If you have ever visited Bermuda you know how breathtaking the water colors are.  My creative mind needed to try and capture those colors.  I think the variations of water color around the reef that surrounds the island are what intriqued me the most.
720 two inch half square triangles later this is what I came up with.
It is a child sized lap quilt-measuring 40 inches by 60 inches.
There are 20 different blue hued fabrics.
I think it has fulfilled it's purpose
but with that being said I am working on a few more (I have left over fabric that has to be used!).
Thanks for taking a look at my quilt and if you ever have a chance to get to Bermuda-take it!. You just might fall in love with the water too!

Am in *awe*---so beautiful, and *so* precise!! The colour variations are wonderful, and the touch of (what seems to be?) lime green is inspired! :-) The shaded backing is gorgeous too. All those triangles... wow!

I so feel a need to get a beach fix! Although a traditional design, this is so fresh and modern and inviting. And this has to be the best setting ever for photographing a quilt! Lucky you.

Just found your post on the your quilt from a pinterest post. Your quilt is wonderful. I have not been to burmuda but have been to the carribean. I agree the water is magical sense to the mind. I have been trying to capture the same idea but no idea came to me till now. When I saw the quilt my mind thought of the same sence of the water before I read your blog post.
