If I play my homeschooling cards right Monday-Thursday I have Friday off from teaching--and that means that I only have to do the week's laundry and clean the house between the hours of 9-3. What a bargain right? Of course, what I really want to do is quilt, so I have found a way to sneak in what I really want to do amongst what I really have to do. I am no genius--just determined and energetic.
Step One: Clean one room or area of the house.
Step Two: Sew one row together and add to the top.
Step Five: Pick yet another part of your messy house and pick it up.
Step Six: Add another row to the quilt top.
And if you follow this pattern for about 5 hours three things will happen--
1) Your house will be clean
2) You quilt top will be assembled
3) and you will be exhausted-but happy
And then on Saturday at sunset you force your husband to stop the car and hold up the quilt top--right there, no a little to the left--a little lower--please cover up your shoes--can't you just stop moving for a second! *SNAP* thanks sweetie--it's perfect.

Wow, you are very disciplined. I've tried doing this before, but when I "break" to do my sewing, I never stop! Then at the end of the day, I have half-finished dishes, laundry, or whatever. I like your energy; must tap into it. Enjoyed seeing your bright tops---fun!
I love your cleaning and quilting idea! I will definitely try this out this weekend. Only problem I might run into is that I'll have to finish my quilt top to vacuum the living room! Oh well! :)

i like your system! but i bet it takes discipline to stop sewing after just one row and get back to the cleaning.

I love to work that way! A little here, a little there, you're never bored and you get SO much done. Love that quilt top, by the way. Amazing what can be done with a simple block in fun colors! :o)

Haha! I do that too. Only, I usually start off well and then end up sewing more than one row together because I just want to finish up whatever I'm sewing! My husband would be more happy if I'd finish the cleaning instead...oh well!
You are a genius! This older and should be wiser brain never thought of that. I clean first and then usually am too tired to quilt. Will give this a try. Thanks for the inspiration.
